Using a bridge to compare tower heights

Step 1: Stacking the Numbers
Students are given two numbers (e.g., 3 and 5). They build two vertical stacks using blocks to represent each number, creating a tangible representation of abstract numerical values.

Step 2: Building the Bridge
A bridge is placed connecting the tops of the two stacks. If one stack is taller, the bridge forms a visible slope, setting up the physical demonstration of comparison.

Step 3: Rolling the Ball
A small plastic ball is placed at the top of the slope. The direction in which the ball rolls demonstrates which number is larger. If the ball rolls from stack A to stack B, then stack A > stack B.

Step 4: Identifying the Symbol
After observing the ball's direction, students choose the correct comparison symbol (">", "<", or "=") to match their observation. They can write or display the number sentence (e.g., 5 > 3).
